HOW TO SET GEOFENCES WITH SKYCONTROL

The geofencing tool allows you to create circular or polygon-shaped flyable and non-flyable zones.

Default Geofence

SkyControl automatically sets a circular geofence of 200 meters radius when the first GPS fix is acquired. The default radius can be changed in the UAS Failsafe/Geofence Parameters.

The default Geofence should be visible, on startup. The flyable zone is surrounded by a green circle, on the map.

Geofencing editing can be activated by clicking the fence button () of the left side toolbar. When editing mode is activated, the flyable zone will be displayed in green. Whereas, the non-flyable zone will be in red. Click the fence button again to exit the editing mode.

Geofencing in Different Flight Modes

Note: It is important to note that Geofences will be impacted differently, depending on the flight mode.

How to Add a Circular Geofence

Activate the editing mode, click on Add Inclusion Circle to add a 50 meters radius flyable circle. When exiting the editing mode, the green surrounded zone is flyable.

Let's click on Add Exclusion Circle to add a 50 meters radius non-flyable zone. The red circle represents the non-flyable zone when exiting the geofence editing mode.

To move your geofence, simply click and hold the center vertex of the circle and drag. Release the mouse button to drop the object in the new location.

To resize the circle, drag and drop the vertex placed on the contour of your geofence.

How to Add a Polygon-Shaped Geofence

With editing mode activated, click on Add Inclusion Polygon to add a polygon-shaped flyable zone. When exiting the editing mode, the green surrounded zone is flyable.

Click on Exclusion Polygon to add a polygon-shaped non-flyable zone. The red polygon represents the non-flyable zone when exiting the editing mode.

To move your geofence, simply drag and drop the vertices. The non-flyable zone will be resized.

You can delete vertices to create a triangular geofence instead. To do so, in the Editing mode, click the ‘!’ mark that appears next to the vertex and click the Delete button.

How to Delete a Geofence

With editing mode activated, select the eraser button (). The color intensity of the geofence will change when the mouse hovers over. Simply click on the highlighted geofence to delete it.

How to adjust a Geofence with exact GPS coordinates

SkyControl allows you to adjust your geofences with exact GPS coordinates, for optimized precision.

Ensure that you are in editing mode,

  • Add your geofence using either one of the shapes. When working with circular geofences, the center point and the radius can be edited.

  • Click on the “!” that appears next to the vertices.

  • Enter your GPS coordinates

  • Click ‘Apply’ or press enter on your keyboard

Please note that the geofences are automatically synchronized with your SKYMATE.
