About the Role

We are currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Designer to develop and maintain its SKYMATE™ product line and assist with Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAS) design projects. In charge of the mechanical design department, the lead designer will be responsible for setting up the mechanical design processes, as well as coaching and training his team members. He also participates directly in design projects as well as in the review of manufacturing and production documents.

Strong communication skills are sought after. You will have to discuss high-level concepts with your respective team. You will be called upon to give your opinion and advice on technological choices to better guide the direction of the company and its products.



  • Design and 3D modeling of RPAS using SolidWorks;

  • Definition of mechanical design processes;

  • Development of project specifications and requirements;

  • Review of plans and documentation produced by the mechanical design team;

  • Sizing of mechanical parts (static and dynamic study);

  • Production drawing, creation of assembly range and wiring diagram;

  • Engineering reports (SRDD, change requests, PLM, etc.).


  • Participate in the hiring of mechanical designers;

  • Manufacturing, assembly, assisting the mechanical team in related manual tasks;

  • Adapt design techniques to the latest methods;

  • Update of standard CAD libraries.


  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (MEC) specializing in design;

  • Technique in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;

  • Advanced skills in sizing of mechanical parts, choice of materials and processes;

  • Experience in 3D modeling (CAD) and machining;

  • The candidate must have a valid work permit;


  • Strong technical knowledge in aircraft design, machined aluminum parts, 3D printed plastic parts and carbon fiber parts;

  • Good ability to pose a problem and solve it methodically;

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Not afraid to improve and redo their work;

  • Creative team player who can also evolve independently;

  • Very good work rigor;

  • Ability to perform assembly tasks requiring a lot of dexterity;

  • Good communication skills in French and English both orally and in writing.


  • Experience with SolidWorks design software (CAD);

  • Experience in assembly, design, production and product life cycle

  • Training or work experience related to RPAS;

  • Team management experience (Internships & Junior)


  • Competitive salary - 75 000$ to 90 000$;

  • Normal work week of 40 hours;

  • 3 weeks vacation annually;

  • Flexible schedule (employees must be available between 10:00 and 15:00);

  • Possibility of remote work;

  • Employees can take breaks at their convenience;

  • 1 day every two weeks of work (sprint) to work on personal projects related to the company;

  • Floating day off (1 day per month).
